Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Treat one patient at a time, on a plan you helped shape, next to the therapist who wrote it. Here is the honest version of the job.

Slidell, LA Full-time or part-time Louisiana PTA licence required

The job, plainly

You treat patients one-on-one, on plans of care written by the evaluating therapist, in a clinic small enough that you were in the room when the plan changed. Progressions get discussed with the therapist, not guessed at.

There is no productivity quota here. Nobody asks you to keep three patients moving at once while you chart a fourth.

The caseload is broad: backs and necks, shoulders, hips and knees, work injuries, post-surgical rehab, vestibular cases, athletes through seniors. Hands-on treatment is the backbone of how we practise, so manual work is a skill you will use every day rather than once a week. Clinicians meet monthly for education classes covering joint mobilization, neurodynamics, exercise progression and regression, and blood flow restriction.

Who it suits

A PTA who wants to be trusted with the hands-on part of care and wants to keep getting better at it. You like knowing a patient by name and by history, not by appointment slot.

You will also be part of running the place. Documentation, scheduling questions, a phone that rings while you are taping an ankle. Small clinic, shared load.

What the role requires

  • An active Louisiana physical therapist assistant licence.
  • Current CPR, AED and first-aid certification.
  • Three years of experience as a PTA in a clinical setting, or three positive clinical references.
  • Comfort treating a wide range of ages, athletes through seniors.
  • Excellent patient engagement skills. You have to be able to motivate somebody who is discouraged.
  • Clear communication with patients and with peers.
  • Adequate command of written and spoken English.
  • Basic computer skills: Microsoft Suite, research databases, and computerized documentation and billing.
  • A positive attitude and the flexibility to take a day as it comes.

What we offer

  • Base salary plus a bonus structure. Specific compensation is discussed at interview.
  • Medical, dental and vision coverage.
  • 401k.
  • Accrued PTO and holiday pay.
  • CEU reimbursement, unlimited CEUs, and a structured mentorship program.
  • Schedule flexibility. Full-time or part-time can be built around your life.

Clinic hours are Monday and Wednesday 8:00am to 6:00pm, and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. Closed weekends.

How to apply

Email a resume to scheduling@alphaptgroup.com, or call (985) 326-7260 and ask for the clinic director. If you have references instead of three years, send the references.
