Insurance
Insurance, answered before you come in.
We will check your benefits and tell you the real number before your first visit, not after it.
You should know the number before you commit.
Almost nobody puts off physical therapy because they do not believe it works. They put it off because they cannot get a straight answer about what it costs. So we do that part first, before you sit on a table.
Give us your plan details and we check them for you. That is a benefits check, and it happens before your first visit, not after it. What we come back to you with is the specific shape of your plan: whether we are in network, whether your deductible has been met, what your plan leaves you responsible for per visit, and whether it puts a cap on visits for the year. Then you decide with real information in front of you.
Deductible, copay, coinsurance
These three words do most of the confusing, so here they are in plain language.
- Deductible. The amount you pay out of pocket each year before your plan starts paying its share. Until it is met, you may be responsible for the visit.
- Copay. A flat amount you pay at each visit. It does not change based on what was done that day.
- Coinsurance. A share of the visit, written in your plan as a percentage rather than a flat amount. Your plan pays its part and you pay yours.
Your plan may use one of these, or two, or all three at different points in the year. That is why a general answer is worthless and a check of your actual plan is not. Once we have run yours, you will know which of the three applies to you.
Out of network, or no insurance at all
If your plan is not one we are in network with, that is not the end of the conversation. Many plans still pay something toward out-of-network care, and we will tell you what yours does. If you would rather not use insurance, or you do not have any, you can pay directly. In either case you get the expected cost in writing before you schedule, so nothing arrives later as a surprise.
You also have a legal right to that written estimate. Under the No Surprises Act, patients who are uninsured or who are not using their insurance can request a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of care before scheduling. Ask us for one and we will provide it. The full notice is on our FAQ page.
Work injuries and car accidents
If you were hurt on the job, we bill workers’ compensation. Bring your claim number and your case manager’s contact information and we will handle the rest of the paperwork with the adjuster. Dr. Ryan Spano is a WorkSteps testing administrator, which matters when a return-to-work decision is part of the file. More on that on our workers’ compensation page and our work injuries page.
If you were hurt in a car accident, we bill auto insurance, and we work with attorney liens when there is one. Bring whatever letters and claim numbers you have, even if the file looks like a mess. See our car accident page for how that care is structured.
One more thing about referrals
You do not need a physician’s referral to be seen here. Louisiana allows direct access to physical therapy, so if you are ready, you are ready. If your plan requires a referral for coverage, we will spot that during the benefits check and tell you before you come in.
Every week you wait is another week spent quietly rearranging your life around it. Start with the benefits check below, call (985) 326-7260, or request an appointment.
